One of the most badass dudes around Daniel Craig,(you may know him as Bond, James Bond), is set to star in the psychological thriller Dream House, being helmed by 6 time Oscar Nominated director Jim Sheridan(In AmericaIn the Name of the Father).

Written by David Loucka(Eddie), Dream House will star Craig as a New York publishing exec who relocates his family to a small New England town, only to learn that their new home was the scene of a vicious murder.

Wow, they must have gotten a killer deal on that place…  ”kick-snare-Craaaash!”

The film will be produced by James G. Robinson along with David Robinson, Daniel Bobker and Ehren Krueger. And marks Morgan Creek’s first movie under the reign of Rick Nicita and its first production start in three years. Morgan Creek fully finances its films, which are distributed through Universal.

Craig is currently  preparing to co-star alongside another badass Hugh Jackman(you may know him as Wolverine, James Wolverine), in the Broadway play “A Steady Rain,” by John Crowley.

Dream House begins shooting Jan. 25th. I’ll want to see more of the plot details, but with Craig on board, I’ll end up seeing it either way. He’s the best James Bond we’ve had in decades, and he’s been absolutely brilliant in films like Layer Cake, Defiance and even in his supporting role in Munich.

So what do you think of Daniel Craig in Jim Sheridan’s psychological thriller Dream House?

This is some great news! The creative team that brought Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park are coming together again to bring a novel that Crichton completed writing before he passed away called Pirate Latitude to the big screen. I think this is awesome, but at the same time a little sad that Crichton isn’t around to see it happen.

As of right now Steven Spielberg plans to produce and is considering directing the film, which would be great! Screenwriter David Koepp, who adapted Crichton’s novels for Jurassic Park and The Lost World, has come on board to write the script.

As for the story, it’s an adventure story set off the coast of Jamaica in 1665. DreamWorks Stacey Snider goes into a little more detail describing it as:

A daring plan to infiltrate Port Royal, one of the world’s richest and most notorious cities, and raid a Spanish galleon filled with treasure. It’s a mission movie, and we see it through the prism of what it might have been like to live on the island during that time.

She goes on to say:

Anything that Michael wrote, Steven would be keenly interested to read. But without Michael knowing it, or even me knowing it, it turns out Steven always wanted to direct his own pirate film.

Whoa! It’s weird to realize that Spielberg has never directed a pirate movie! That just seems like something that would be right up his ally. Now I really hope he directs this film, because I would love to see Spielberg finally direct a pirate movie! With all of these people involved it is safe to assume the movie will have a lot of fun adventurous story telling.

Spielberg said regarding Pirate Latitudes:

Michael wrote a real page-turner that already seems suited for the big screen. Michael and I have had almost two decades of solid collaborations. Whenever I made a film from a Michael Crichton book or screenplay, I knew I was in good hands. Michael felt the same, and we like to think he still does.

The novel is set for release Nov. 24, and I for one will be picking myself up a copy. I can’t wait to see what this story has in store for us.

Fox’s flagship animated series The Simpsons and Family Guy will boldly go where they go, like every week. The Simpsons has long featured comic book themes, and Family Guy references them on a weekly basis(not to mention that Batman himself, Adam West is the mayor.) But we’ll be getting a double dose of comic-book send ups this September for the series season premieres.

MTV reports that The Simpsons‘ 21st season premiere, titled “Homer The Whopper”, will have some help in the geek department. The episode will features a guest appearance and co-writing credits from Seth Rogen. The upcoming The Green Hornet star, who also rocked a Superman star of David shirt through parts of his last film Funny People, will reportedly project his personal experiences training for a heroic role onto Homer as celebrity fitness trainer Lyle McCarthy is hired to whip Homer into shape for the role of “Everyman,” a film adaptation based on Comic Book Guy’s latest superhero creation.

The seventh season of Family Guy will open with a comics and science-fiction themed premiere that will have Stewie and Brian on yet another road trip of sorts. This trip will find the duo…

…traversing alternate realities. The episode, entitled “Road to the Multiverse” will see Stewie and Brian cross the threshold between dimensions—a practice heavily documented across comicdom, namely in DC Comics’ frequent “Crisis” events. In fact, the promotional image for the series is a spin on the recent “Infinite Crisis” miniseries.

In the promo pic you can see many of the alternate universes. Among the obvious ones you can see are a real life universe, a universe where dogs walk humans, Lois and Peter with two heads, some sort of badly drawn universe, and some sort of all male party that Stewie will probably not want to leave.

So are you excited for The Simpsons and Family Guy comic-book themed season premieres?

I cannot wait to see Spike Jonez’s new film Where The Wild Things Are. If you have seen the trailer, then you know how amazing this film looks like it is going to be. One of the things I took from the trailer was the fact that this movie would most likely have a wonderful soundtrack, and after coming across the following information, and listening to the first song from the album today, I am confident this is going to be a very fun and unique soundtrack.

The Soundtrack got itself a name and it will be called Karen O and The Kids. The guests that Joined Karen O on this musical journey include, members of the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, Jonze’s brother, producer Squeak-E Clean, Bradford Cox of Deerhunter, Yeah Yeah Yeahs/Folk Implosion collaborator Imaad Wasif and Jack Lawrence of The Raconteurs and Dead Weather? Dean Fertita (member of Queens of the Stone Age, The Dead Weather, The Raconteurs), Liars’ guitarist Aaron Hemphill, the Bird and the Bee’s Greg Kurstin, Services’ Tristan Bechet, and Gris Gris’s Oscar Michel, as well as a children’s choir who have evidently contributed to a soundtrack that will include songs and soundscapes.

Here is what Karen O said regarding the soundtrack:

We wrote music that would be easy for kids to sing along with. The songs have that innocence and spirit with poppy hooks here and there. Simple, emotional, sweet stuff.

I absolutely loved the first song that has been released for the film! It has the perfect feel for what this movie involves. Now enough talk about how awesome this soundtrack is going to be! Listen to the first song that has been released and judge for yourself!

To listen to the first song released by Karen O and the Kids called All Is Love, Click Here, and enjoy!

This track will be available to purchase as a digital single tomorrow, Tuesday August 25, and the full soundtrack album will drop on September 29.

Here’s what may or may not be our first look at Natalie Portman in the new comedy from Pineapple Express director David Gordon Green, Your Highness.

This pic comes from on location in Ireland. Even though it’s only the back of her head, as a dude gentleman who’s spent many a couple hours staring looking at Ms. Portman, I can pretty much guarantee that’s my our girl.

natalie-portman_your-highness

I’m super pumped for this comedy send-up of all those 1980’s Arthurian movies, which will star Danny McBride, and will again team him up with his Pineapple Express co-star James Franco.

McBride, along with writing partner Ben Best, penned the script for Your Highness, and will star McBride as an arrogant, lazy prince who must complete a quest to save his father’s kingdom. Franco will be playing his more heroic brother, who joins him on his quest. Zooey Deschanel(500 Days of Summer) will take on the role of Belladonna, Franco’s virginal bride. And Portman plays a warrior princess, and love interest for McBride’s character.

I think this will be a great comedic gem! It has yet to set a release date, but with it’s stellar cast and premise it’s looking quite promising.
